About the job

Lidköping City Library is looking for a part-time substitute librarian for our operations as one of our employees is going on parental leave.

In Lidköping municipality, there is a centrally located city library with three associated branches in Järpås, Tun, and Vinninga, as well as a book bus.

We are a public library that belongs to the Culture Unit, Culture and Leisure Area, and Education Sector.

Job responsibilities

You will be responsible for purchasing, inventory, and weeding of newspapers and magazines, as well as purchasing and receiving certain media. The job also involves being the convener for meetings for our book bus group where you will be the meeting leader.

Your duties include driving the book bus, among other things, in rural areas, residential areas, to nursing homes, and after-school centers.

You will also be scheduled in our library reception, participate in meetings, join various working groups, and perform other tasks commonly found in libraries, art, and culture.

Your tasks will involve meetings with people of all ages and being able to meet their wishes and needs.

Evening and weekend work is included.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with a degree in Library and Information Science or other relevant education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. Several years of experience is prioritized.

You should enjoy being a public face and having responsibility for various tasks simultaneously. Providing everyone with a good reception is a given for you.

The position is a temporary position at 80%, starting in early March 2026 or by agreement and extending to March 2027.
