Description

We are now looking for a school librarian to strengthen our reading promotion mission towards the municipality's children and youth.

The position is newly established with a primary goal of further anchoring the school library as a pedagogical resource in teaching across all grade levels. The position aims to ensure all students have equal opportunities and, with the help of the librarian's expertise and the library's resources, achieve increased goal fulfillment.

The position is placed with the library operations in Lysekil but has a clear mission to contribute to making school libraries places that provide students with opportunities to enhance their reading enthusiasm and habits.

Lysekil's library consists of the main library in Lysekil and two more open branches in Brastad and Grundsund. We work to create accessible and welcoming libraries that inspire reading and promote meetings between people. In Lysekil municipality, there are also seven primary schools and one high school.

We are part of the Libraries in Fyrstad, which gives us the opportunity to share resources and experiences that benefit our library visitors.

Responsibilities

As a school librarian, you contribute to making the school library a place where students want to be and actively work for good relationships with students.

The school librarian's mission is also to work strategically and create opportunities to increase collaboration between library operations, teachers, and schools in new ways, serving as a reading promotion resource that benefits students' learning with their needs and interests in focus.

You will work with reading enthusiasm, reading promotion efforts, and media and information literacy in close collaboration with teachers. This can occur through special projects or through certain prioritized efforts at the municipality's various schools.

The assignment does not include staffing or administration at the school libraries.

Qualifications

• We are looking for someone who always has the student's best interests in focus and is driven to meet and support children and youth.
• You need to be able to take responsibility for your own work and be self-sufficient, as well as initiate and create good relationships that promote collaboration.
• You need to see connections, have an overview, and be prepared and flexible to adapt to new conditions.
• To thrive in this role, you will also need to be creative, think outside the box, while being structured and delivering on time.
• You have a degree in library and information science or another education deemed equivalent by the employer.

It is an advantage if you have experience working with children and youth and have experience conducting training, workshops, or speaking in front of and leading groups.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Conditions

Permanent employment, with start date by agreement. Full-time.
