The youth reception caters to young people aged 13 to 23 and always works on the youth's behalf. Our team includes midwives, social workers, and doctors addressing young people's questions about identity, lifestyle habits, mental health, sexuality, relationships, and other lifestyle issues. Region Sörmland and the municipalities in Sörmland collaborate on youth receptions. Starting from September 1, 2024, the youth reception's social work efforts will be organized under Child and Student Health, Education and Labor Market Administration in Katrineholm Municipality. Region Sörmland is responsible for midwifery and medical services.

Child and Student Health is a central operation consisting of a unit manager, administrator, school social workers, speech therapists, school doctors, school psychologists, school nurses, social pedagogues, and special educators, currently comprising 34 employees. Child and Student Health primarily focuses on health-promoting and preventive measures in preschool and school. We apply flexible working hours and there is the possibility of vacation exchange if the operations allow. We are a Generation Pep municipality and encourage a healthy work environment. Child and Student Health provides several bookable e-bikes.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a social worker at the youth reception, you will work with young people from a health-promoting holistic perspective. You will independently assess the youth's situation and well-being to determine their needs. Your work includes supporting, guiding, and motivating to achieve psychosocial well-being. You will provide support and advice on issues related to mental health, sex and relationships, identity and gender development, relationships, addiction issues, and existential questions. As a social worker at the youth reception, you will work collaboratively with midwives and/or doctors. You will participate in the reception's outreach and health-promoting work, including classroom visits and study visits to the youth reception.

You will belong to a network for the region's youth reception social workers and also to the professional group of school social workers in Child and Student Health, where currently eight school social workers work with the municipality's primary schools. You are expected to contribute to the systematic quality work of the operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a strong interest and commitment to the living conditions of young people. You have a degree in social work or another higher education qualification that the employer finds equivalent. Since the position involves record-keeping, you must have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Experience working with children and youth is a plus. If you have training in sexology and/or knowledge of HBTQI, it is an advantage.

It is important for us that you enjoy working independently and take responsibility for ensuring that the work flows smoothly at the reception. You have a holistic view and the ability to adapt and find solutions to the challenges you encounter at the reception. We are looking for someone with good communication skills and an ability to collaborate, as we have close professional cooperation at the reception.
