University Lecturer in Theology and Religious Studies

Responsibilities and Duties

The position of university lecturer includes responsibilities in teaching, research, and administration.

The teaching involves courses in theology and religious studies at both undergraduate and advanced levels. A significant part of the position will also be dedicated to supervising and examining theses and reading courses at both levels. The ability to teach in both Swedish and English is a requirement.

Research is conducted individually and in collaboration with colleagues and doctoral students at the department. The employee is expected to actively contribute to the activities of the research seminar in theology and religious studies.

Administration includes education-related tasks such as course planning and course evaluation. The employee is expected to participate in the department's joint development work and work together with colleagues to develop the activities within theology and religious studies.

Qualifications

Requirements for employment are:

  • PhD in systematic theology, philosophy of religion with ethics, or equivalent
  • Documented teaching experience in theology and religious studies
  • Five weeks of higher education pedagogical training
  • Experience in supervising and examining theses

Meritorious for the position are:

  • Excellent ability to teach both systematic theology and philosophy of religion and ethics
  • Familiarity with CTR's activities in general and the education in the specialization of theology and religious studies in particular
  • Documented scientific competence, expressed in the form of international publications

Other

The position is a temporary appointment at 20% during the period 2026-02-01 to 2027-01-17.

About the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies (CTR)

The Centre for Theology and Religious Studies (CTR) has existed under various names in Lund since the university began its operations in 1668. At CTR, teaching is conducted in the specializations of religious history and behavioral science, biblical studies, church and mission studies, as well as theology and religious studies. Research is conducted in virtually all disciplines of religious studies and theology.
