Career and Guidance Counselor Wanted at Malmö Latin School

Malmö Latin School is seeking a career and guidance counselor for a temporary position during the spring term of 2026, with a workload of 50%. Depending on your availability, a lower workload, but at least 30%, may also be possible.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will guide and inform students, prospective students, and visitors about study and career opportunities. You will work to increase students' knowledge about themselves, their options, and future paths. Through guidance conversations, follow-up on study plans, and coordination of the school's workplace-based learning (APL), you will create conditions for students to make thoughtful and sustainable choices.

As part of the school's student health team, you will contribute your expertise to support students in their development. You will collaborate with career and guidance counselors throughout the city to strengthen students' understanding of the labor market and education. Together with your colleagues, you will develop guidance and contribute to a learning and sustainable organization.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a career and guidance counseling program (180 credits)
  • Experience working with children and adolescents
  • Good knowledge of the school's goals and governing documents
  • Good digital competence
  • Very good Swedish in spoken and written form.

Meritorious:

  • Experience as a career and guidance counselor with a background of working closely with the business community,
  • Experience working in high schools or classes in middle schools
  • Good experience collaborating with other authorities and being part of various networks.

For this position, you need to be solution-focused and adapt your working methods based on students' needs and changing conditions. With an analytical and pedagogical approach, you see connections and help students explore their possibilities. You have good collaboration skills and contribute to both individual and organizational development. Your work is characterized by a responsive and relational approach, and you plan, organize, and prioritize your work in a structured and efficient manner. You value diversity and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others.
