The Workplace

Within the LSS operations in Trelleborg municipality, there are, in addition to daily activities, several group homes, children and youth homes, as well as short-term and leisure activities.

Daily activities are an initiative for people of working age with intellectual disabilities and/or autism or acquired brain injury who are not employed or studying. The mission consists of offering meaningful employment where the initiative is designed and adapted based on the individual's interests and needs, focusing on strengthening the individual's ability to become more independent.

Job Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you are an important person in creating a meaningful and secure everyday life for the participants based on their wishes and needs. You support and encourage them in various activities and social contexts. The goal is for the participants to feel involved, happy, and develop their independence.

You work to map resources and skills of the user with a strong focus on increasing or maintaining their independence and participation in society. The work involves establishing action plans together with users, carrying out activities, and following up to ensure that the services continue according to the action plan. We work based on clarifying pedagogy, which aims to make the world as clear and predictable as possible for the individual.

The work is varied and fun. You motivate, guide, and provide support in various situations. Through good reception and clear communication, you create security and calm. You work in a low-arousal manner, are solution-focused, and can handle unexpected events safely.

As a support assistant, you are expected to be an engaged and driving person, who cares about the individual's independence, self-determination, and creating a functioning and positive everyday life for the individual. As a person, you have a positive attitude, are flexible, and have good collaboration skills. You are also expected to be active in maintaining social documentation relevant to the work, as well as contributing to development work regarding social documentation and action plans.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school diploma from the child and youth program, preferably with a focus on social work or pedagogy, or the health and care program, preferably with a focus on functional variations. Alternatively, other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.

You have experience working with the target group and knowledge of various disabilities. You also have a B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of alternative communication methods, clarifying pedagogy, and have experience with documentation. The work can be physically demanding, which requires you to be able to handle this. You also need to have a good command of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

In this recruitment, we place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You are a calm and secure person with good self-awareness. You have a positive attitude, are proactive, and find it easy to work both in a group and independently. You consciously work in a low-arousal manner and adapt your approach based on the user's needs and issues. You work from a solution-focused perspective and need to handle unforeseen events calmly and safely. You should be able to follow instructions as well as legal requirements and regulations related to the work.

Before an employment offer, an acceptable extract from the police record must be presented along with identification documents.
