The Defense Health Care Skövde is an integrated occupational health service with the Swedish Armed Forces as the client. We differ from commonly found occupational health services by providing, in addition to occupational health care, also health and medical care for students and conscripts, as well as medical preparedness during military exercises and operations.

Main Responsibilities

Health and medical care for conscripts and students, as well as occupational health care for all employed staff. The work includes health-promoting, preventive, treatment, and rehabilitative tasks. Your duties will include teaching and participating in development work. You will work in an organization with varied and independent work, but also teamwork with the rest of the Defense Health Care staff. The team consists of nurses, physiotherapists/ergonomists, medical secretaries, health educators, occupational safety engineers, doctors, and psychologists. Conducting your own physical training is also part of the job.

Service at other Defense Health Care units and workplaces may occur.

Requirements for the Position

• Licensed nurse with relevant specialist competence
• Approximately five years of professional experience as a nurse, of which at least two years as a specialist nurse
• Driving license B (driving is part of the job)

The position is based at the Defense Health Care in Skövde, but business trips occur for both work and personal training. Work during inconvenient hours, as well as irregular working hours, may occur as we maintain medical preparedness during operations and exercises.

The employment is a civilian permanent position full-time, starting with a six-month probationary period, with a start date of 2026-03-01 or as agreed.

Skövde Garrison and the Garrison Unit

Skövde Garrison is one of Sweden's largest military garrisons with over 2000 employees. The garrison consists of several units from the Swedish Armed Forces, all with the main task of training and developing combat units. The breadth of the training activities includes assault units with tanks and armored vehicles, through supporting units such as artillery, command, medical, and other logistics units, to military schools with professional officer training at various levels and staffs for several command levels primarily within the army.

Within Skövde garrison operates the Garrison Unit. The unit is responsible for providing support with competencies and services in several areas of operation. The more extensive areas consist of medical care within the framework of occupational health care for employed staff and daily medical care for conscripts, security services, and protected transports, commissioning of training and shooting ranges from Borås in the south to Älvdalen in the north. The unit also provides support in sports and wellness, where the responsibility for fixed training facilities exists, various occupational safety functions such as environment, fire protection, and electrical safety, as well as support for conscripts through conscription consultants.

The Garrison Unit is organized and sized to operate in all conflict scales, which means that all employees are subject to service obligation and are thus obliged to continue serving in heightened readiness.

Skaraborg Regiment, P 4 has operations from Älvdalen in the north to Remmene in the south. The leadership is located in Skövde, where most of the conscript training takes place. The regiment's task is to recruit and train conscripts and personnel for two armored battalions, a heavy transport company, and a brigade reconnaissance company. P 4 is also responsible for a brigade staff that, in times of crisis and war, will lead large parts of the army's units.
