Workplace Description
The Department of Cardiology at Lund University is a leading research and clinical environment focused on advanced diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
The operations include both patient-centered clinical research and experimental studies in cardiology. A central area is heart failure, including investigation and follow-up of patients with advanced heart failure as well as research on heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.
The research environment is strongly translational, meaning that the results from basic research are applied to clinical applications. Population studies, clinical trials, and experimental models at the cellular and animal level are conducted here. The workplace has close collaboration with Skåne University Hospital and international research networks, providing access to highly specialized equipment and multidisciplinary expertise. The environment is characterized by high scientific output, grant funding, and a dynamic team that includes researchers, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers. The focus is on innovation, supervision, and knowledge dissemination through publications and lectures.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility
We are looking for a person to work with the following tasks:
- Be responsible for research and development in the area of heart failure and cardiomyopathies
- Supervise PhD students and postdoctoral researchers
- Apply for research grants
- Lecture and publish in the field
- The individual is expected to work independently, and expertise in the mentioned area is crucial.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- Doctorate in Cardiology.
- Associate Professor in cardiovascular research.
- Familiarity with the translational research methods used at the unit, including omics studies, population studies, clinical studies, and experimental models at the animal and cellular level.
- Being independent and meticulous, as well as having good planning skills.
Desirable qualifications for the position include:
- Having completed medical training.
- Research experience at the professor level.
- Previous experience in high-level cardiology research.
Other Information
The position is a permanent position with a scope of 20%. The desired start date is January 1, 2026, or by agreement.

The Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund (IKVL) is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine.
