Lerum Municipality is known for its scenic locations with lakes and forests. The municipality has 3,200 employees and 43,000 residents but expects to grow significantly in the coming years. Lerum is only a 20-minute commute from Gothenburg and is currently facing a development-intensive period with many exciting projects underway, ranging from schools to housing. We are looking for substitute teachers for the spring term of 2026 for Lerum Municipality's adapted schools.
How it Works:
You will be intermittently employed (as a substitute) and receive ongoing requests for work shifts – sometimes at short notice (the same day), sometimes with longer notice. You will indicate your availability in our digital booking system, where you can also express interest in specific work shifts.
As a substitute, the work assignments and schools may vary from day to day. We have three adapted primary schools located in Lerum and Floda, as well as an adapted high school in Lerum. Working hours are during weekdays.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be a safe and positive role model for our students, supporting them in their learning, communication, and social development. The students follow an adapted curriculum that resembles and is integrated with the primary school's, and teaching is carried out in close collaboration with the primary school's principals and staff. Various pedagogical tools such as visual support, signs, and sensory or creative training are used to meet the individual needs of the students.
As support for individual students, you will be actively present, guiding in both teaching and care situations, and contributing to a safe, structured, and predictable environment. The work is varied and involves significant responsibility as well as the ability to work independently.
Examples of Job Responsibilities:
- Support an individual student in teaching based on the regular staff's planning
- Use visual support, signs, and other adapted methods to facilitate communication and learning
- Assist with practical tasks, care, and activities during the school day
- Participate in sensory, motor, and creative exercises together with the student
- Create safety during breaks, transitions, and other changes
- Contribute to leisure or afternoon activities adapted to the student's conditions
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who easily establishes contact in social situations and can quickly build trust with students with various needs. You take responsibility, show initiative, and are confident in working independently. You have a good ability to structure your work and drive it forward, while also being attentive, observant, and enjoying collaborating within the team.
You need to be able to adapt to new student groups, adapted working methods, and daily routines, as well as independently handle the situations that arise during the school day. Experience in supportive work with children, pedagogical aids such as visual support and signs, or sensory and creative training is advantageous.
A high school diploma is advantageous. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, engagement, and the ability to adapt support according to each student's needs.
