Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Gudhemsgården

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people and adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Gudhemsgården receives non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. SiS Youth Home Gudhemsgården has just undergone an organizational change from LVM care to LVU care and is now in an exciting phase of development. Currently, the institution consists of three departments but will expand to five departments with a total of 30 places over the coming year.

Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in daily life. With your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the implementation of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our routines and contribute to the smooth running of daily life, including schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who sees a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations, and you share SiS's values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are self-assured and easily build relationships with both young people and other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You should also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or an equivalent degree from a university
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Proficient Swedish in both spoken and written form

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Prison and Probation Service, e.g., correctional officer
  • Security guard training
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, young girls, etc.)

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probation period. Start date according to agreement.
