We operate our own special schools in various locations across Sweden. We also provide support to preschools and schools nationwide to collaboratively create learning environments that are developmental and accessible. All students have the right to a school that allows them to develop based on their own conditions. SPSM operates schools on behalf of the state. We provide students with a learning environment that offers opportunities for participation, learning, and development. We offer meaningful, stimulating, and important pedagogical work in our schools.
Vänerskolan in Vänersborg offers bilingual instruction in a sign language environment for students from preschool to grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish sign language and written Swedish. We provide accommodation for those who cannot commute to school every day.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Substitute teacher for primary school.
As a substitute teacher, you will plan, implement, follow up, and evaluate the teaching in accordance with the school's goals and governing documents. You will adapt the teaching to the students' conditions and needs. You will collaborate with colleagues and teams to create a holistic approach to the students' learning and schooling.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:
- Certified teacher
- Experience teaching in a special school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Proficient in Swedish sign language and Swedish
- Basic IT skills
- Basic knowledge of educational programs and their application.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience teaching students with disabilities
- Good knowledge of how to teach in a sign language environment
- Good understanding of the school's governing documents
- Good skills in making teaching accessible for each student
- Knowledge and experience in language development work
- Understanding of the implications of being deaf/hard-of-hearing in the learning environment.
Personal qualities:
You are meticulous, cooperative, and independent. You place the student at the center and adapt your teaching and approach according to each student's needs.
OTHER
Temporary position.
A criminal record extract must be presented before employment.
In the event of a societal crisis, you may be directed to work across the agency's areas of operation based on your placement location.
