The main goal and task of the Surgical Center Umeå is to provide highly specialized and high-quality care and research for patients within the northern healthcare region. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast, endocrine, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery, which are conducted in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

The Urology section is part of the University Hospital Unit (USVE) at the Surgical Center. We perform both open and robot-assisted surgery, transurethral and endoluminal surgery, as well as ESVL for Region Västerbotten and Norrbotten. Our section handles diseases across the entire spectrum of urological and andrological conditions. We have a broad responsibility for managing highly specialized care within the Northern healthcare region. Active research is conducted in the areas of bladder cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, and urinary tract infections, but we also welcome an expansion of our research profile.

Currently, the Urology section is staffed with two associate professors/university lecturers, three senior physicians, three specialist physicians, and seven resident physicians. We have our own on-call line. Resident physicians in general surgery are primary on-call in our line. As a senior physician with us, there are good opportunities for developing your own area of responsibility, both clinically and in research.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a physician with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that makes people feel secure. The responsibilities of a specialist physician include standard clinical tasks such as responsibility for the care department, performing surgeries, outpatient activities, referral management, on-call duties, participation in and responsibility for multidisciplinary tumor conferences (MDK), and supervision of resident physicians and junior specialists.

You contribute to the development of care by being an active part of our change efforts. We promote a learning environment and we see that you actively share your knowledge with colleagues while taking responsibility for your own professional development. Since we are part of a university hospital, research and supervision of students naturally occur in our operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with a specialization in urological surgery. You have an interest in developing the urological and andrological services with us. Interest in research, method development, or already initiated doctoral studies is an advantage.

As a person, you are stable and loyal with a strong service mindset and have good collaborative skills. You can handle multiple tasks, are solution-focused, and can adapt to changes in work methods and operations. You are structured and have a good ability to make decisions and work independently.

You have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
