Residential Support Worker for LSS Operations

We are now looking for a stable and mature residential support worker with a good approach to the LSS operations, currently located at Måsen group home.

Workplace

Måsen group home has six places and is located in Rundvik, Nordmaling municipality. Residents living in the group home belong to the LSS target group. All have different functional variations and varying support needs. The staff group consists of employees who work day/evening/weekend and night shifts.

We have full-time as the norm in our LSS operations, which means that staff need to be able to work flexibly, preferably across all times of the day and at several workplaces with so-called resource shifts.

The Role and Responsibilities

The tasks include personal care and delegated tasks from the municipality's HSL unit. The work places high demands on patience and the ability to see consequences, as well as the ability to interpret and clarify the residents' communication. We also work to provide residents with an active leisure time, so daily outdoor activities and accompanying residents to various activities are part of the staff's responsibilities.

Your Profile

The requirements we have for you to work as a residential support worker are that you are a trained nursing assistant, preschool teacher, or have other education or experience deemed equivalent.

To communicate with the residents and to write and access care/social documentation as well as receive medication delegation, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

Experience working with residents who have functional variations and mental diagnoses is meritorious, as well as knowledge and experience in working with low-arousal approaches. AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is also meritorious as residents use visual support in their daily lives.

Your personality must match our residents' needs, so great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is positive, patient, and secure in themselves,
  • has the ability to create calm and stability,
  • has a good ability to work both independently and in a team,
  • is engaged and interested in working with the residents' development based on their conditions and needs,
  • has good collaboration skills and sees opportunities rather than obstacles,
  • has no physical limitations as heavy lifting occurs.

Approach is the keyword in working with our residents within LSS. Having personal maturity means being able to see the consequences of one's actions in a longer perspective before acting. You need to be stable and perceived as such regardless of context and social demands. Being both stable and having personal maturity is necessary in working with our residents within LSS. The residents' cognitive levels vary, and they need guidance in their daily lives and to feel secure. Our residents also need staff who pedagogically show and guide them, making everyday life understandable.

Solo work may occasionally occur at the workplace, where staff must structure, plan, and organize their daily work independently, which requires being used to being self-sufficient and having the ability to solve arising problems. As staff in a group home, you are also part of a work group, which means you need to be able to collaborate with others and create good relationships.

In your job, you will also come into contact with staff from health and medical care, guardians, relatives, and daily activities, which means you need to have the ability to create good relationships and be service-oriented. The residents' various functional variations require varying degrees of patience and endurance from you as staff. You also need to have an empathetic ability and be able to understand the residents' situations and feelings, all to focus on the residents' well-being. Different situations require different approaches, which means you need to be both flexible and stable and stand firm in your actions.

Nordmaling has an excellent location, right by the coast, between Umeå and Örnsköldsvik with E4 and Botniabanan very close. The proximity to the sea, forests, rivers, fine sports facilities, and a rich association life offers great opportunities for an active leisure time for both young and old. Arenas, shopping centers, and cultural houses are available in Örnsköldsvik to the south and Umeå to the north, both less than 30 minutes away by Botniabanan.
