Infection Control Nurse at Region Kalmar County

With us in the Infection Control and Healthcare Hygiene section, you will have a role that combines independent operational work with analytical and advisory elements, in close collaboration with regional and national partners.

As an infection control nurse, you will practically monitor and manage cases of infectious diseases. You will perform contact tracing and investigate and manage outbreaks of infectious diseases, serving as an advisory function and support to healthcare personnel, municipalities, and other stakeholders, as well as the general public. You will plan and conduct training and information initiatives and participate in vaccination campaigns and public health and preparedness projects. There are good opportunities to participate in and plan various projects and deepen your knowledge in subject areas based on your interests and experience.

The role is primarily operational but also includes strategic elements – you will participate in the development of routines, collaboration, and preventive work at a regional and sometimes national level. You will be part of a team with two experienced colleagues, an infection control physician and a deputy infection control physician, and will closely collaborate with the healthcare hygiene unit.

About You

We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably a specialist nurse, with a background in infectious diseases, primary care, or child health care. You thrive in independent work and have the ability to prioritize, analyze, and make decisions. You are someone who enjoys communicating, educating, and collaborating with various stakeholders and are curious, responsible, and have an interest in infection control and public health.

You will be part of an engaged team together with infection control physicians, deputy infection control physicians, and colleagues in healthcare hygiene. Together, we form Region Kalmar County's expert resource in infection control and infection prevention, participating in several regional and national networks. The work involves many points of contact – both within and outside the region – such as health centers, municipal environmental and food inspectors, county veterinarians, student health services, and the Public Health Agency.

Our unit is part of the Regional Staff, which consists of 140 employees with expertise in areas such as economics, law, HR, communication, planning, coordination, sustainability, and safety. Everyone works to develop the organization and improve the quality of life for the residents of Kalmar County. Within our respective areas of expertise, we also provide support to Region Kalmar County's management, managers, and administrations.
