BMSL is a multilingual preschool and primary school that follows the Swedish curriculum. From the age of one to ninth grade, our students pass through the same gate here in central Lund. This provides security and continuity for students, teachers, and parents. Perhaps this explains why many students see the school as their second home. Well-being and community are important to us. We want to be the school that students long for. A place for explorers, researchers, and independent thinkers.

At BMSL, students encounter a multilingual and international environment. Here, teachers speak Swedish, English, and French – and through our language immersion method, students have the opportunity to develop their language skills naturally. This means that the French teacher always communicates in French and the English teacher always in English, regardless of whether the meeting takes place in the classroom, during after-school activities, in the hallway, or outside during recess. Our language educators are native speakers and provide students with an authentic language experience every day.

In addition to language immersion, we work with Montessori pedagogy as one of several tools to help students achieve the goals of the curriculum. But above all, our ambition is to give each child the best conditions for the future – by offering a stimulating learning environment, creating security, and sparking curiosity. Our drive is to provide students with the tools they need to develop their full potential.

Today, there are 44 children in preschool and 424 students in primary school (F-9), with about 220 students in after-school care. Educators and children/students come from different countries and diverse cultures. BMSL is a very stimulating and dynamic workplace.

About the role

We are looking for an after-school teacher who is passionate about their profession. Someone who creates a safe and stimulating environment for our students. You are a person who promotes students' development and contributes to their social skills. You enjoy challenging students by allowing them to explore their interests and introducing them to new ones. You also demonstrate this in the classroom during the day, where you support students during school hours and in after-school activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily work of the after-school program based on the curriculum and set goals.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the teaching in the after-school program.
  • Create a safe and respectful environment where every student feels seen and heard.
  • Collaborate with other educators to create a cohesive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with guardians to ensure an open dialogue about their children's progress and needs.
  • Support students in the classroom during school hours.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a licensed after-school teacher and has experience working closely with students, with a deep understanding of their needs and development. You have a natural ability to create and lead activities that are both stimulating and creative, and you are passionate about providing students with meaningful experiences in their daily lives.

Your communicative strength and ability to collaborate positively contribute to the team's work, and your commitment to children's learning and well-being truly sets you apart. You have good knowledge of the school's governing documents and use them in a natural way in your work.

As an educator, you take responsibility for your own development, knowing that reflection and learning are crucial to making a real difference. You follow up on your teaching and constantly work to improve.

Since English is one of our main languages, we prefer that you are a native English speaker, but we also expect you to understand and express yourself in Swedish.

We offer

A stimulating and developing work environment where you have the opportunity to make a real difference in students' futures. Continuous professional development and collegial support and collaboration in an engaged team of professional colleagues, as well as great opportunities to help shape and develop BMSL's after-school activities.

Due to the law on suitability checks prior to employment in school activities, an extract from the police's criminal record must be presented at any interview. The form to order the extract can be found via polisen.se

The position is 55%, and interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. Please send your application to [email protected]

We look forward to meeting you. Welcome with your application!
