The GIS group within the geodata unit is looking for a new team member – are you the one we are looking for? The need for reliable and useful geodata is growing within the organization, while we continue to develop both our 3D city model and work with open data.

As the central hub for providing the municipality's operations with quality-assured, searchable, and user-friendly geodata, we now need to strengthen the team!

About Us

The geodata unit plays a central role in the community building process and ensures that the municipality's common geodata system has the technical prerequisites required. Now that one of our employees is leaving, the need to replace the position is growing to ensure that the GIS operations continue to develop and meet the increasing demands in line with digitalization.

The unit is part of the building and environmental office and currently consists of 8 employees.

About the Position

The geodata unit is responsible for developing, managing, updating, and making the municipality's fundamental geodata available. We handle mapping and measurement assignments both within the framework of governmental authority and as commissioned tasks.

As a GIS Engineer, you will be one of the key persons in the municipality's ongoing digitalization work and work closely with your colleagues in a leading role. With your expertise in GIS, you will also be a valuable support for the entire organization.

As a GIS Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Actively working with map production, GIS analyses, and delivery of geodata
• Managing and developing the municipality's web-based mapping services both internally and externally
• Contributing to the development of the municipality's 3D city model
• Developing work methods focused on the use of Open Source.
• Participating in the work with open and shared data across the municipality
• Working according to the municipality's geodata strategy
• Establishing routines, process descriptions, and documentation of workflows related to GIS
• Managing the municipality's GIS platform
• Coordinating GIS work and the use of geodata within the municipality.
• Providing support and training in GIS to the municipality's various operations
• Keeping up with technological developments and monitoring the geodata field

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We are looking for someone with a university degree in GIS/IT or other relevant education and/or work experience that the employer considers equivalent, as well as several years of experience from a similar position.

Experience with Open Source, system management, and the use of FME form and flow is an advantage.

As a person, you are creative and relationship-building with a natural ability to communicate with different target groups. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and experiences. At the same time, you are structured and have a genuine interest in geodata and GIS. You work both independently and collaboratively with others, with a solution-oriented approach and take great responsibility for the unit's GIS work.
