JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a substitute teacher in a special needs school, you are the helping hand for students to achieve their educational goals and serve as a link between the classroom teacher and the student. You provide support to students that leads to a meaningful school day based on each individual student's abilities.

You will actively participate in the activities at the special needs school and the after-school program, meeting students with various disabilities, both intellectual and physical, such as autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, epilepsy, and challenging behaviors.

In your job, you will use different types of physical aids to help students train their bodies, assist with dressing and undressing, toilet visits, and during meal times. You will support and guide students in lessons and other activities throughout the school and after-school day.

Since the operation requires continuity, you need to be able to work 3-5 days a week between Monday and Friday. The workday starts early in the morning. The standard time is 07:00, but we have shifts that start as early as 06:00.

QUALIFICATIONS

To work as a substitute teacher in a special needs school with us, you need:

  • A valid criminal record check!
  • To understand, speak, read, and write Swedish
  • Basic computer skills
  • A completed high school diploma
  • To be at least 18 years old

It is an advantage if you have education in the field, e.g., teaching assistant, support assistant, nursing assistant, personal assistant, etc. Experience working in schools or healthcare is also advantageous.

Personally, you show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role and adapt your communication according to the recipient, target group, and situation. You listen to others to understand their needs and have the ability to work together with others to perform tasks and achieve goals. Finally, you take responsibility for your and shared tasks with the best interests of the users in focus.
