Strategic Buyer – where business meets technology and societal benefit

Do you want to contribute to strengthening Sweden's defense capability while working in an organization where technology, business, and societal benefit intersect? We are looking for someone with experience in driving complex business deals – whether you come from procurement, project management, or contract management – and who wants to further develop in a strategic role within one of Sweden's most technology-intensive industrial projects.

About the role

As a strategic buyer, you will play a central role in ensuring long-term sustainable business arrangements with suppliers in advanced technology production. You will be responsible for the entire commercial process – from strategy and agreements to follow-up and improvement – in close collaboration with production, development, marketing, and after-sales.

The work takes place in an international context with complex and technically advanced business deals, which requires structure, business acumen, and the ability to lead cross-functional supplier teams.

Examples of tasks

Develop and implement procurement strategies within defined areas

Negotiate commercial terms and establish supplier agreements

Lead and coordinate supplier teams in collaboration with internal functions

Establish and further develop relationships with both new and existing suppliers

Follow up and analyze supplier performance related to cost, quality, lead time, and delivery capability

Initiate and drive improvement projects focusing on efficiency and sustainability

You will become an important part of the supply chain in a project that directly contributes to building and preserving Sweden's and our customer countries' defense capabilities.

Your profile

You have experience working strategically and thrive in the intersection of technology, business, and organizational development. Perhaps you have previously worked with strategic procurement, purchasing, project management, or contract management – preferably in technically oriented environments such as defense, industry, or production.

The ability to understand and analyze total cost over the lifecycle

Interest in technology and technically advanced projects

Good negotiation skills in complex, international environments

Experience collaborating cross-functionally in larger organizations

The ability to build long-term and sustainable relationships

Formal requirements:

Academic degree in economics, engineering, or another relevant discipline

Several years of experience in business-driven roles such as strategic procurement, purchasing, or project management

Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing

Practical information

Location: Linköping

Start: As soon as possible, by agreement

Scope: Full-time, consultancy assignment with the possibility of takeover after about a year

Working hours: Office hours with some flexibility

Security classification: The position is security classified, which means that an approved security clearance is required
