Specialist Physician in Internal Medicine at the Acute Internal Medicine Clinic (AIM)

At the coagulation clinic, we provide specialized care for patients with thromboembolic and bleeding disorders.

The clinic is a place where clinical practice, education, and research go hand in hand – with a focus on quality, learning, and development in everyday life.

Our Offer

This is a unique opportunity – you will be involved from the start in building a new clinic. We are in a phase of development where culture, structure, and working methods are shaped together. With us, you will be part of an engaged and future-oriented group that wants to create something sustainable and meaningful – for patients, for colleagues, and for the future of internal medicine.

  • A developing clinic – you will help shape how acute internal medicine will be organized and practiced in the future.
  • Broad internal medicine service – the opportunity to work with a wide spectrum of acute conditions and develop your own medical areas of interest.
  • Clear focus on work environment and health factors – we build our operations on trust, participation, and continuous professional development.
  • Collegial learning and support – reflection, supervision, and shared responsibility for quality are a natural part of our everyday life.
  • Development through clinic, education, and research – you will have the opportunity to contribute to the future competence and knowledge development in internal medicine.

There is room for both experience and curiosity here. Together, we create a workplace where one can grow – as a physician, colleague, and person.

The Acute Internal Medicine Clinic (AIM) is a newly established clinic at the university hospital in Linköping. Here, the acute internal medicine care is gathered – the ward for acute internal medicine (B172), the medical intermediate care unit (MIMA), and the coagulation clinic – under a common mission: to strengthen and develop broad internal medicine.

In the acute internal medicine ward, patients with a wide spectrum of acute and complex internal medicine conditions are cared for. In MIMA, our medical intermediate care, we offer a higher level of monitoring for patients who are too ill for a regular ward but do not require intensive care. Here, advanced medical expertise is combined with close teamwork between doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants.

Job Description

As a specialist physician with us, you will be a central part of the operation. You will work in the acute internal medicine ward and MIMA, where you assess, investigate, and treat patients with a wide range of acute internal medicine conditions – such as heart and lung diseases, infections, electrolyte imbalances, and thromboembolic diseases. You will actively participate in rounds, planning patient flows, and developing new working methods. Supervision of resident doctors and students is an important and natural part of the role.

The work is primarily clinical and includes on-call and backup duties based on experience and competence.

About You

You are a specialist in internal medicine – preferably with interest or experience in one of the subfields of internal medicine. Experience in supervision, quality, or development work is an advantage. We welcome both experienced specialists and those new to the role – with us, there is support, structure, and a willingness to help you grow.

You have a genuine commitment to acute and complex medical conditions and thrive in an environment where collaboration, improvement work, and learning are at the center. You are communicative, solution-oriented, and actively contribute to a culture of trust and participation.
