Visby Hospital is Gotland's only hospital and includes units for both emergency and planned care such as emergency reception and specialties in medicine, surgery, cardiology, infection, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics, surgery, and intensive care.

Psychiatry is also part of the hospital's offerings but is geographically separated from the hospital in its own premises.

The staffing unit's mission is to staff short-term vacancies within the healthcare's acute operations, wards, and some clinics as needed for substitutes.

We are now looking for assistant nurses for hourly employment through the staffing unit's substitute pool.

We would like you to be available in several different units. Since the supply and needs span many different units and specialty areas, there are great opportunities to develop, learn new things, and meet people in many different life situations. The more units you build your breadth with, the better your desired working hours and availability can be matched with the needs in the operations.

Your tasks

In the role of hourly assistant nurse with us, you will have a unique opportunity to care for patients across several different levels of care and medical specialties, primarily in inpatient wards but also within other units in healthcare. You choose whether you are interested in two or more units, and we will tailor your introduction based on your experiences and needs.

You will work closely with patients, performing standard nursing and medical tasks within the operational area and the knowledge area of the assistant nurse. You will also perform surrounding care-related tasks necessary for the care to function.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with one of the following qualifications:

• Practicing assistant nurse
• Specialist assistant nurse
• Newly graduated assistant nurse awaiting professional certification from the National Board of Health and Welfare
• Nursing student who has completed T3
• Medical student who has completed T6

To be considered for the position, proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is required.

We consider it an advantage if you have previous experience working in emergency care and/or primary care.

As of July 1, 2023, assistant nurse is a protected professional title. This means that you need to apply for and obtain a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse within care and nursing. If you already have an issued certificate, we would like you to attach this to your application.
