Wholesale Markets Department
The Wholesale Markets Department is responsible for monitoring market participants' trading of electricity and gas in Sweden. The purpose is to ensure that trading follows the rules of the energy markets and that, for example, insider trading or market abuse does not occur. Many of our issues involve implementing international legislation in the energy sector, and a large part of the work is done in collaboration with other European regulatory authorities. The department coordinates Ei's international work and the development of the national and European regulatory framework for the wholesale market for electricity and gas.
We are now looking for a lawyer
We are now looking for a lawyer who wants to participate in our exciting work with regulatory development and supervision of the European energy markets.
Job Responsibilities
As a lawyer with us, you will have a varied and developing job, where you ensure that the legislation on the wholesale market for electricity and gas in Sweden and the EU is followed. Together with driven colleagues with different backgrounds and expertise, you will primarily work on interpreting, applying, and improving the various regulations. The work also includes monitoring and supervision of the implementation of EU law.
You will have an active role in the ongoing dialogue between Ei and other regulatory authorities in the Nordic countries and Europe. This means you will be involved in influencing international cooperation and participating in international contexts for the development of the legal field. The work may involve travel within the Nordic countries and the EU. You will have the opportunity to network and collaborate with experts in the energy sector.
Qualifications
In this job, you should have:
- a law degree
- very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
It is advantageous if you have an understanding of the rules governing electricity markets within Sweden and the EU. We also see it as positive if you have experience working in the energy sector.
In addition to your formal qualifications, we place great importance on your personal qualities. In this job, it is important that you:
- have good analytical skills and a structured working method
- are solution-oriented and responsible
- have good communication and collaboration skills
- have a good ability to tackle new complex areas.

We supervise and develop the rules of the electricity, district heating, and natural gas markets and work to ensure society's need for functioning energy distribution and trading. Ei is also tasked with contributing to the development of the electricity and natural gas markets within the Nordic countries and the EU. We do this, among other things, by participating in networks with other European regulatory authorities.
Ei has around 220 employees and we are located in modern premises in Eskilstuna.
