Committed Nurse for the Orthopedic Department

The Orthopedic Department at Östersund Hospital is divided into three sections: acute, elective, and geriatric. Here, patients aged 18 and older are treated for a wide variety of orthopedic conditions and injuries. In the acute section, we care for patients with acute conditions and traumatic injuries, elective involves planned surgeries, and geriatric cares for older patients with at least three diagnoses, which requires more comprehensive nursing and medical competence. The care team consists of: Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Doctors, and Pharmacists. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide care and support to patients before and after orthopedic procedures, including pain management and rehabilitation
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor the patient's condition/response to treatment
  • Collaborate with doctors, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and follow up on individual care plans
  • Manage and perform wound care
  • Keep accurate records of the patient's condition, treatments, and progress
  • Inform and educate patients and their relatives about care plans, postoperative care, and rehabilitation
  • Handle emergency situations
  • Work closely with colleagues in a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care for the patient
  • Provide emotional and psychosocial support to patients and their relatives during the care process
  • Practice person-centered care and ensure high-quality care

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Swedish nursing license
  • Experience working in orthopedics (preferred but not required)
  • Flexible and able to work well in a team
  • Empathetic with good communication skills
