Bankgirot is looking for a Linux Engineer to a growing part of the organization in Stockholm.

As a Linux Engineer, you will play a key role in securing future payment solutions in a tech company where we are passionate about our mission – and for each other.

Your role

You will be a central part of Bankgirot's extensive transformation journey and will play a key role in building our brand new "Greenfield" solution for a future-proof payment infrastructure.

This is a unique opportunity for you who want to be involved from the ground up and create a modern platform that shapes Sweden's payment flows. As a Linux Engineer, you will also become a key person in our operations organization within the Technology business area. You will be responsible for both daily operations and strategic development of our Linux platform, and you will help shape solutions with a focus on high security and availability. You will have a significant influence on our technical choices and work closely with internal and external parties to ensure stable operations, further development, and delivery of IT services. Your main responsibilities include:

• Be involved in shaping and implementing our modern Greenfield platform
• Be responsible for the operation, development, and improvement of Bankgirot's Linux environment including VDI solution
• Ensure that IT services are delivered according to set requirements and SLAs
• Act as a requirements setter and coordinator towards internal and external suppliers
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
• Have a key role in our security and hardening work for the Linux platform
• Work with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code to streamline operations and configuration

We are looking for someone who has

A genuine interest in technology, a problem-solving attitude, and a desire to contribute to a secure and modern payment infrastructure. You have a strong drive to both operate and further develop advanced Linux environments, and want to be part of a dedicated team that is building the future platform from the ground up.

You thrive in a role where you can combine operational responsibility with strategic thinking. In collaboration with architects, technical specialists, and operations teams, you ensure that our solutions work efficiently in everyday life, while proactively suggesting improvements and automations. You have very good knowledge of Linux system administration and are used to working with scripting languages such as Bash. You have a good understanding of the operation of Linux virtual desktop images. You have experience using automation tools and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions, such as Ansible, to create stable and efficient IT environments.

You also have a good understanding of security work related to Linux platforms, including hardening, as well as an interest in DevOps and cloud-native architectures. Your background includes work in environments with high demands for availability and continuity, and you are familiar with the ITIL framework as support for structured IT operations. You likely have a relevant academic education or equivalent experience that has given you deep expertise in the field.

Other information

The position is a permanent employment based in Liljeholmen, Stockholm. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish and English. Before employment is decided, a security review will be conducted according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
