About the operation

The forensic psychiatry unit is a unique operation within Sahlgrenska University Hospital, located in Gunnilse, about 20 minutes by public transport from central Gothenburg.

The mission of forensic psychiatry is to provide individually tailored psychiatric care and rehabilitation to patients who have been sentenced to treatment. The operation has open and closed care facilities with enhanced security classification and also cares for patients deprived of liberty under other legislation when they require acute psychiatric specialist care.

Our target group in forensic psychiatry consists of patients with extensive psychiatric issues.

Forensic psychiatry has a societal protection responsibility, where the goal of the operation is for patients to manage a life in society without reoffending due to mental illness. Forensic psychiatry thus has a dual mission, both societal protection and care. The operation is security classified, and the acute unit has security level 1, which is the highest security level in Sweden. The acute unit has a regional mission to care for detained, imprisoned, and LRV-sentenced individuals deprived of liberty who require psychiatric inpatient care and consists of twelve care places.

You have access to the unit's rehabilitation facilities, such as a gym and pool, for personal use. Through functioning routines, dynamic security, participation, and competent colleagues, we together create a good and safe working environment.

Job responsibilities

As a caregiver, you work both with care and societal protection. You are part of a team with several professional categories where you, as a caregiver, have a central and important role. Your main task is to be present for the patients and maintain a calm and safe environment in the unit. As a caregiver, you have a supportive function while also making daily observations. You will document in Melior, and medication management on delegation, sampling, and monitoring of vital parameters are also included.

As a caregiver, you are responsible for maintaining a good working environment in the care unit together with your colleagues. Your approach and contributions are crucial for the operation to be characterized by calm, comfort, care, and safety. The position includes both day and evening shifts.

About you

We are looking for someone who is a trained caregiver/nursing assistant.

It is advantageous if you have experience from forensic psychiatry and/or have previously worked in correctional care, SiS, and/or work with deprivation of liberty and coercion.

You have caring qualities, a high security awareness, and an interest in law. Furthermore, we believe you are a calm and secure person who can set boundaries. You thrive in a varying work pace and can easily switch from calm to urgent situations. You have the ability to listen, understand, motivate, and last but not least, we believe you have a genuine interest in people in vulnerable situations.
