Job Description

Together with other employees, you will work with comprehensive planning, strategies, and investigations from a broad perspective. This can be in various roles, sometimes as a project leader, sometimes as a project participant or expert who answers questions and provides support as needed.

You will work with:

• Project management of new FÖP for Bergshamra
• Representing the municipality in inter-municipal and regional issues
• Leading or participating in feasibility studies
• Managing and working on the development of strategic governing documents such as a municipality-wide green plan
• Participating in development work regarding countryside and archipelago
• Being a project member in planning work

In the position of comprehensive planner, you have a broad perspective on community building and strategic urban planning and drive your projects independently. Community building is a team effort, and we see collaboration as a given. Since comprehensive planners participate in many different types of processes related to physical planning, you will encounter developers, property owners, and municipal residents.

The Challenges

The legislation governing physical planning is not static, partly because its application shifts depending on case law. The challenges we face in the planning unit in Norrtälje are therefore to continuously keep ourselves updated with environmental analyses and to continuously adapt our operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic background in community building, urban planning, or physical planning. Alternatively, you have other education that the employer considers equivalent. Experience working in a politically governed organization is an advantage. To succeed in the role, you should have a good ability to work with complex issues and a genuine interest in long-term planning work. You have a very good ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing, and you feel comfortable speaking in front of both small and large groups. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

You who apply for the position:

• have relevant education in community building, urban planning, or physical planning,
• have several years of experience in comprehensive planning and project management,
• are well acquainted with relevant legislation,
• have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing,
• can handle common digital tools and systems such as GIS programs, Adobe Suite, and Office Suite,
• have a B driver's license.

About the Workplace

Norrtälje is an expanding municipality with both urban environments and countryside and archipelago. We are facing several exciting assignments such as developing a detailed comprehensive plan for Bergshamra, developing Rimbo, continuing the development of the harbor in Norrtälje city, planning for villa construction outside urban areas, and developing cultural heritage programs. Your workplace will be in the municipal building in Norrtälje city, just a stone's throw from the bus station, making the workplace easily accessible even for those commuting.
