The department is a county-wide accredited division at Falu Hospital responsible for morphological diagnostics in Region Dalarna, including clinical pathology, cytology, and autopsy services. Digital pathology and some molecular diagnostics are established. The staff at the department include biomedical analysts, physicians, cytodiagnosticians, medical secretaries, laboratory assistants, and autopsy technicians.

The working hours are Monday to Friday on site in Falun.

Biomedical Analyst or Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

The main tasks for a biomedical analyst in the histopathological laboratory involve preparing tissue samples for morphological assessment and diagnosis in various steps. In routine operations, this includes macroscopic assessment and cutting of small tissue samples, embedding in paraffin, sectioning, staining, and microscopic quality assessment.

The tasks are varied and require on-site work with both manual methods and technical equipment in our daily operations.

Special methods we work with include:

• Immunohistochemistry
• Gene protein analysis (ISH)
• Mutation analysis
• Immunofluorescence
• Special staining
• Microscopic assessment of sperm samples in infertility investigations

The laboratory is SWEDAC-accredited, and we work according to national standards and quality assurance. A good work environment and workplace well-being are important to us.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Licensed Biomedical Analyst or equivalent education deemed relevant by the employer for the tasks.
• The work requires proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
