Folkuniversitetet in Östersund has been providing a basic training program for contact interpreters since 2016. The program lasts for one year at half-time and is supervised by the Swedish Authority for Higher Vocational Education. We are currently looking for several individuals interested in working part-time primarily in language assessment. As an applicant, you should be eager to contribute to the education of future contact interpreters and understand the crucial role of interpreters in ensuring legal certainty and accurate government work. You should also be committed to providing each participant with fair assessment and constructive feedback that leads to improvement.

About the Position
During the training, participants undergo two diagnostic oral exams and two final oral exams. These exams consist of role plays focusing on language accuracy, grammar, pronunciation, and interpreting techniques. The role plays are based on fixed scripts and involve a reader acting as a Swedish language user and the group's language instructor acting as the client.

We are now seeking qualified Swedish assessors to participate in these exams in Östersund, as well as similar exams conducted during the admission process to the training program.

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have:

- experience in using interpreters

- the ability to provide constructive and empathetic feedback, even when delivering negative results

- the skills to manage exam situations, provide clear instructions, and conduct consistent and transparent assessments

We are looking for individuals who meet one of the following criteria

- experience in the teaching profession with a focus on assessment and feedback, preferably in Swedish as a second language (SVA) or Swedish (SV)

- experience as an interpreter user, preferably in government work or healthcare

Training and Commitment

To be considered for the job, you need to participate in our assessor training held on February 8-9 and March 14-15, 2025. During the training, you will receive a scholarship of 600 SEK per day. After completing the training, you may be involved in admission exams and final exams in May-June, as well as diagnostic exams in November. The total commitment amounts to approximately 4-6 weekends per year.

Describe your relevant experience and why you are interested in the assessor role in your application. You are warmly welcome to apply!
