For our Vocational Higher Education program in Social Pedagogy in Östersund, we are looking for a person with experience in the field who wants to educate engaged and competent social pedagogues to meet the needs of the labor market. We are looking for someone with practical experience and broad knowledge in social work, who can motivate students to take responsibility for their learning and development, and who has the ability to see and communicate where the boundary lies between the responsibility of the education and the individuals.
 

Working in Vocational Higher Education is exciting! It is a form of education that works well, has a uniqueness that should be maintained, and is growing. Even within Folkuniversitetet, we are developing our activities in Vocational Higher Education and collaborating nationally. The education at Vocational Higher Education is based on concrete needs of employers and is carried out in close cooperation with the working life. Theory is combined with practice as direct preparation for the students' future professional work. You are part of a creative, stable, and solution-focused work team, where you contribute to developing and shaping the future social pedagogues. The curriculum, approved by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education, is based on the needs of the labor market, but in your role as a teacher, you are an important part in developing content, organization, and design to concretize the education linked to individual competence needs. This is done together with the management team, which plays a central role in vocational higher education.
 

The following sub-courses are included in the education, and we prefer that you as a teacher have the competence to teach in most of the courses:

- Social Pedagogical Work - professional introduction, organization, and legislation

- Development, socialization, and living conditions - individual, group, and society

- Mental illness

- Addiction and comorbidity

- Social pedagogy and method work

- Integration pedagogical social work

- Social pedagogical work with children and young people

- Learning in Work 1 and 2 (internship)

- Thesis

- overall responsibility for teaching in the various courses (planning, implementation, and follow-up)

- collaborate in the work team to ensure education of high quality and goal fulfillment

- supervision of students

- collaboration with guests, lecturers, and consultants

- assess students' knowledge levels against course objectives

- grading

- continuously report to the education's management team

- support students in their studies

- participate in the acquisition and networking around employers who receive students for periods of work-integrated learning

 

- You have many years of work experience and education in social work

- You have documented pedagogical experience and competence in some form

- You have the ability to inspire students and to feel a commitment to the activities and education we conduct

- You have the ability to see where the boundary lies between the school's responsibility and the individuals' responsibility. You need to be able to be clear about this and maintain good contacts with integrity in daily work.

- You have the ability to prioritize and balance the content of a broad education within the frameworks surrounding course objectives

- You are curious and inspired not only by the actual subjects but also by pedagogy and didactics. 

- Taught in similar subjects

- Experience of teaching in Vocational Higher Education

- Good administrative skills

- Good data skills - so that you can easily learn and master the digital learning platform we use 

- A broad network that you can use to contribute to the education, for example, guest lectures and study visits

Type of employment

Permanent employment starting with a 6-month probationary period.

Full- or part-time according to agreement

Individual salary according to collective agreement.
