Institution Technician (Animal Caretaker)

Core Facilities, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, is seeking an Institution Technician / Animal Caretaker for the Department of Experimental Biomedicine (EBM).

Core Facilities is an open university-wide research infrastructure for research within Life Science. We are located at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and provide access to some of Sweden's most advanced technologies and analytical tools for research in areas such as medicine, biomedicine, and clinical studies.

Experimental Biomedicine (EBM) is a multifunctional research facility within Core Facilities that offers infrastructure, expertise, and training for research involving animal experiments. EBM is also a national skills center and has an MRI imaging facility. Animal welfare as well as the 3R principles (Replace, Refine, and Reduce) are integrated into all aspects of EBM's operations and policy.

We are now looking for an experienced institution technician, animal caretaker, to EBM who, with a focus on quality awareness, wants to work with us and drive the development of research support forward!

Responsibilities

Animal care, supervision, documentation, and maintenance of records and routines. Study support within research as well as work on the development and implementation of the 3R principles in the operations.

Qualifications

You have a recognized education in laboratory animal science (LAS course) or a recognized high school course in Animals for Research Purposes (DJFDJU0), as well as experience and ability to independently take responsibility for and perform tasks related to animal room work and practical expertise in study support.

Post-secondary education in the Life Science field is advantageous.

You have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English, as these two languages are spoken among colleagues and researchers.

Employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment, 100%, located at EBM within Core Facilities, University of Gothenburg. A six-month probationary period may apply. Some weekend work may occur. Employment start on July 1 or by agreement.
