The Swedish Forest Agency is looking for someone who wants to work with the rewetting of drained peatlands for the sake of the climate, based in Borås.

Rewetting involves raising the groundwater level in drained peatlands to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which also has positive effects on biodiversity. The work with rewetting contributes to several of Sweden's environmental quality objectives, including Living Forests and Reduced Climate Impact.

The Work Includes

Your tasks as a rewetting planner encompass the entire chain from initial dialogue with landowners to monitoring the effects of completed ditch blocking on hydrology and environmental impacts. The case management includes providing advice, investigating stakeholder relationships, and making assessments in the field with the help of GIS support. Once an agreement is signed with the landowner, the process continues with detailed planning and ordering of mechanical ditch blocking. The work is complex and challenging, but at the same time very exciting and offers great opportunities for personal development. You will be part of a team with engaged and friendly colleagues who support each other.

The position may also include other tasks within the district such as supervision, advice, inventory, and forestry services within our assignment operations.

Qualifications

You have a forestry degree or a degree in biology or equivalent with good forestry knowledge. Relevant work experience is an advantage. We prefer that you have experience in site assessment and field planning, as well as experience working with both forest production and forestry conservation issues. Knowledge of hydrology and the significance of water in the landscape is a plus. Experience in regulatory work, knowledge of species, administrative law, and nature value assessments are advantageous. We value good IT/GIS skills.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. As a person, you should be service-oriented and have good collaboration skills. You should be willing and able to take responsibility for various activities and be able to work independently towards set goals in a structured manner. You should have a pedagogical ability and confidence in representing an authority. You need to be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

You need a value foundation and integrity that allows you to identify with the requirements that the role of a civil servant entails. You should be able to meet and engage in dialogue with people in various situations in a trustworthy and respectful manner.

A driver's license is required, and travel for work is expected. You have good skills and experience working in the field.

We offer a permanent position at 100%. Start date by agreement. The employment begins with a 6-month probationary period.
