Institution Technician, Central Cleaning

Core Facilities, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, is seeking an Institution Technician / Cleaning Technician for the Department of Experimental Biomedicine (EBM).

Core Facilities is an open university-wide research infrastructure for research within Life Science. We are located at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and provide access to some of Sweden's most advanced technologies and analytical tools for research in areas such as medicine, biomedicine, and clinical studies.

Experimental Biomedicine (EBM) is a multifunctional research facility within Core Facilities that offers infrastructure, expertise, and training for research involving animal experiments. EBM is also a national skills center and has an MRI imaging facility. Animal welfare as well as the 3Rs principles (Replace, Refine, and Reduce) are integrated into all aspects of EBM's operations and policy.

The facility has high hygiene requirements, and the main task of the central cleaning team is to provide the operation with clean equipment.

We are now looking for an institution technician, placed in the team for clean goods, logistics, and support, to meet the operational needs for clean goods with a focus on quality.

Job Responsibilities

Handling of tunnel dishwashers, bottle washing, cabinet washing, and autoclaves. Within the washing process, items are sorted, washed, and delivered to storage. Cleaning and maintenance of the machines and washing areas are included. Waste management and reception of goods.

In your daily work, you are part of a team where tasks are shared, but you are expected to work independently.

Qualifications

You have relevant education in electrical, industrial, or automotive programs or a technical background and a genuine interest in technology and mechanics. Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of laboratory technology and qualified machinery in comparable facilities, as well as experience working in facilities with high hygiene requirements, are a must.

Programming skills are advantageous, and we would appreciate if you have knowledge/experience working with robots.

As the work of an institution technician may involve repeated and heavy lifting, it is important for us that you work in an ergonomically correct manner and appreciate keeping your body active.

As a person, it is important for you to be flexible and to have good cooperation with your colleagues and to contribute to a good atmosphere in the group. At the same time, you need to enjoy working independently in the central cleaning area.

You have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English, as both languages are spoken among colleagues and researchers.

Employment

The position is a permanent employment. Placement at Experimental Biomedicine (EBM), Core Facilities, Sahlgrenska Academy. A six-month probationary period may apply. Start date June 1 or by agreement.
