Unit Manager for the Parliamentary Inquiry Service (RUT)

The Parliamentary Administration is an authority tasked with facilitating the work of the parliament. Approximately 700 politically neutral employees work at the Parliamentary Administration with many different types of tasks. The Parliamentary Inquiry Service (RUT) belongs to the Chamber Department.

We are now looking for a unit manager for RUT. The unit's primary task is to assist members of parliament and party group offices with knowledge support in the form of inquiries that serve as a basis for political considerations and decisions. RUT also responds to inquiries from other parliaments. The inquiry work is based on the client's needs and often within tight deadlines, which means that the work is characterized by many short assignments. Annually, about 1,800 inquiries of very varying nature are received, covering all areas of politics.

Your Responsibilities

As a unit manager, you have personnel responsibility and are responsible for RUT's operations and development. You lead the operations through three section managers, who together with you form the management team of the inquiry service. The role includes representing RUT in various internal and external contexts, including internationally. You are also expected to participate in overarching tasks for the Parliamentary Administration.

Your Qualifications

You should have relevant academic education, solid experience in qualified inquiry work, and good knowledge of scientific methods. We expect you to have previous managerial experience in quality assurance of inquiry work in a knowledge organization and that you have the ability to lead, coordinate, and develop both operations and employees. You should have experience working in a politically governed organization as well as a good understanding of and interest in the conditions of politics. You also have a very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities, particularly your ability to collaborate and communicate. Great importance will also be placed on your ability to lead and inspire staff.

As a manager within the Parliamentary Administration, you should have an overview and be able to understand the whole, act from an employer perspective, stimulate employees to participate and develop, and set realistic goals that can be achieved within given frameworks.

  • Employment type: Permanent position
  • Scope: Full-time

We Offer You

At the Parliamentary Administration, you will work with stimulating, developing, and socially beneficial tasks close to the core of democracy. Here you will face professional challenges and good conditions regarding vacation, occupational pension, parental leave, and professional development. There is an opportunity for remote work to some extent.
