At the Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are a total of about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

The Migration Agency is looking for a unit manager for the detention center in Märsta.

In the detention center, people who have received a rejection or deportation decision stay and need to be available for enforcement. A person can also be detained if their right to stay in the country or their identity needs to be investigated. The detention center is a closed unit and operations are conducted around the clock. The operations must be designed in a legally secure, safe, and dignified manner with a focus on the individual.

Being a unit manager in the detention operations

In the role of unit manager within the detention center, you will have a key role with responsibility for personnel, budget, and working environment for a unit of about 30 employees. Together with your staff, you will drive the unit towards set goals and ensure continuous development.

As a unit manager, you are responsible for leading the operations at your unit where goal fulfillment, a good working environment, and development are prioritized highly. As a leader, you create conditions for a developing and positive work climate that enables employees to grow in their roles and carry out their tasks in the best way. You harness and strengthen the drive that exists among employees through participation, engagement, and focus on our mission.

You report to the section manager and are part of the section's management team. In the management team work, you contribute to the continuous development of the operations from the section's and region's holistic perspective.

We are looking for you who have:

• Academic education that the employer deems relevant for the position or other education combined with relevant experience for the position
• Current managerial experience with responsibility for employees, budget, results, and working environment within public operations
• You can express yourself very well in spoken and written Swedish.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience in leading employees in 24/7 operations
• Experience working in locked institutions such as detention centers, correctional services, SiS, forensic psychiatry, etc.
