Interim Unit Manager for Group and Service Housing

Hägersten-Älvsjö is one of 11 district administrations in Stockholm with over 3000 employees. Today, we are one of the city's largest districts with approximately 130,000 residents. The Group and Service Housing Unit is now seeking an interim unit manager.

Your mission as a unit manager

As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for three residential units where you primarily lead through others. The role includes personnel, financial, and operational responsibilities. Your role involves driving, planning, evaluating, and developing your area of operation. You report to the area manager and are part of the management team with other unit managers.

We are looking for someone who enjoys change work and who actively steers the organization towards set goals with high quality. Several quality and development projects are ongoing in the unit that you will be involved in.

Your tasks include:

  • personnel responsibility including employee and salary discussions
  • work environment responsibility
  • budget responsibility for assigned units
  • operational responsibility with follow-up, evaluation, and ongoing development of the operations
  • quality responsibility ensuring that work is conducted according to qualitative methods
  • holding regular meetings at each unit
  • collaboration with external suppliers and partners
  • compiling statistics regarding the operations

Your experience and competence

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a degree in social work or equivalent relevant academic degree
  • good knowledge of the Swedish language and a strong ability to communicate in both speech and writing
  • previous managerial or leadership experience

Meritorious for the position:

  • experience working with Medvind, Paraplyt, Agresso, and other systems used by the City of Stockholm.
  • good knowledge of work within LSS operations.
  • knowledge of low-arousal approaches.

You have good collaboration skills and the ability to cooperate for a good work environment where employees' skills and resources are utilized. As a person, you are proactive, open to change, and have the courage to try new ways of working. Furthermore, you are a clear leader who can inspire and build trust with employees, which places high demands on engagement.

About the workplace

The Department for Disability and Social Psychiatry is responsible for the management, governance, and development of authority exercise as well as support and services for people with disabilities.

The Group and Service Housing Unit is responsible for various housing forms for people with disabilities. In our operations, we put the user at the center by providing good care and professional support that facilitates everyday life. A dignified and respectful approach, safety and security, accessibility, influence, and self-determination characterize the execution of our services.

The operations consist of 28 units led by an area manager, 8 unit managers, and a team leader at each residential unit. We are currently working to strengthen our operations with support pedagogues so that there will be such a resource at each residential unit. In the coming years, we will expand and increase operations with several new service and group homes.
