Department Head for Payroll

The position is placed within the area of authority services. The area consists of approximately 450 employees distributed across the departments of payroll, finance and consulting, customer meetings, service development and connection, as well as system management.

As the department head, you report to the area manager and are part of the management group of the area. Within each department, there are several unit managers who report to the department head and are part of your management group for the department.

Main Responsibilities

As the department head for payroll, you are responsible for the production of payroll services to the customer authorities connected to the Payroll Service of the Swedish Agency for Government Employers, and you have the ultimate delivery responsibility for the operations.

The payroll department within the area of authority services currently delivers payroll to 145 authorities. The payroll department consists of approximately 175 employees distributed across nine units and directly reporting unit managers who are also part of the department's management group. The operations within the department are located in Eskilstuna, Gävle, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Östersund.

You are responsible for production within the department and have the ultimate delivery responsibility towards the customer authorities. You are responsible for personnel, work environment, results, and budget, and ensure that production is conducted with agreed quality, high efficiency, and cost awareness.

As the department head, you work to ensure that the work environment is characterized by joy, efficiency, and accuracy through a coaching and engaging leadership style. You also ensure that there is a clearly communicated connection from your tasks to the authority's overall goals and missions.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant academic degree or equivalent experience deemed comparable
• At least five years of experience in operations with production responsibility towards customers
• At least five years of experience as a manager
• Experience in leading managers
• Experience in establishing and developing collaborations with other actors at a strategic level
• Experience in remote leadership
• Experience in leading change

Furthermore, you should possess the following abilities:

• To build and strengthen relationships with customer authorities together with employees within your area of responsibility
• Good leadership ability based on a trust-based working method
• Effectively communicate the overall picture and long-term goals for the operations to employees
• Effectively communicate externally and be the face towards customer authorities
• Be effective while maintaining a balance with high quality

Additionally, it is advantageous if you have:

• Experience from work in Payroll and HR
• Experience from work in public operations
• Experience in working with production processes
• Experience in leading in a high pace of change

Other

The position is 100% and permanent. We usually apply a six-month probationary period. The position is located in Gävle, Stockholm, or Östersund. This position requires an approved security clearance according to the Security Protection Act. As an employee, you may also be placed in a war situation based on total defense needs.
