The Cultural School in Skövde is part of the cultural department and, together with the City Museum, is part of Skövde Cultural Factory. Adjacent to it is the Esthetic Program's music direction. The school has a large orchestra and ensemble activities and participates in various performances every year throughout the municipality. We hold several student concerts each semester where students perform in front of an audience. The Cultural School aims to give as many of Skövde's children and youth as possible the opportunity to experience the joy of their own creativity.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The position includes teaching students both individually and in groups. The teaching should be conducted in such a way that, in addition to giving the student the opportunity to develop skills on their instrument, it strengthens their self-esteem and their ability to interact with both peers and adults in a fun and respectful manner. The staff at the Cultural School should strive to be both musical and personal role models for the students, but should take great consideration of each student's own musical experience and varying wishes. Based on the goal that students should enjoy their music-making throughout their lives, the orchestra, choir, and ensemble activities should be built from a holistic perspective, where an important end goal is well-functioning adult orchestras and choirs in Skövde. The Cultural School should strive for a wide range regarding different music genres, various ensemble combinations, and different teaching methods.

The position includes teaching guitar and electric guitar both individually and in groups. You will also be one of the educators in the school's team together with educators who teach electric bass, piano, and percussion. The school has several different groups where you will become one of the leaders.

The majority of the teaching takes place in the afternoon and evening in your own room at the Cultural School. It may also include teaching in the Esthetic Program's music direction.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• Music teacher education or equivalent competence
• Experience in teaching guitar and electric guitar
• Experience in ensemble leadership
• Good digital skills
• Insight into children's different needs and great pedagogical competence
