Assignment Description:

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team.

What you will work on:

  • Design, simulate, and develop mechanical components and assemblies
  • Integrate components designed by partner facilities into the ESS Master CAD model
  • Participate in system assembly, machine installation, and related operations in surface assembly halls and laboratories
  • Generate, maintain, and update 2D drawings in CATIA and archive them in CHESS, the ESS in-house CAD management software
  • Create 2D designs from 3D inputs and vice versa, ensuring alignment with project requirements
  • Develop conceptual, draft, detailed, and manufacturing 2D drawings and 3D models in CATIA V6
  • Produce, update, and review technical documentation, ensuring compliance with engineering standards
  • Provide on-site installation coordination and generate installation drawings and documentation
  • Follow up on manufacturing processes, monitor production performance, and conduct quality and acceptance inspections
  • Review mechanical engineering drawings and packages, ensuring adherence to GPS tolerancing, ISO standards, and industry norms

What you bring:

  • Higher technical or university degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field
  • Minimum five years of experience in CAD mechanical design engineering
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in CATIA design
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design maturity, versioning, and release processes
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and its application to production drawings
  • Familiarity with maintenance and installation drawings, particularly in industrial settings
  • Background in technical documentation and configuration management
  • Experience in designing mechanical apparatus for accelerator and detector environments is an advantage
  • Knowledge of vacuum, pressure, gas flow, magnetic fields, low-frequency radiofrequency, high temperature, cryogenics, or electrical and electronics is beneficial
  • Mechanical design supervision experience and familiarity with acceptance testing are desirable
  • Strong initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand and execute instructions while proposing technical solutions
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting project priorities and evolving requirements
  • Structured and organized approach to work, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables
  • Adaptability to changing project needs, proactive problem-solving, and strong analytical skills
