Henån School currently has about 580 students from preschool to grade 9 in regular and adapted primary school. We have over 90 staff members from various professional groups working at the school.
The school consists of three units, each with its own principal: grades F-6 (with after-school care), Adapted primary school grades 1-9 (with after-school care), and grades 7-9. Community, Respect, Empathy, Safety, and Responsibility (GRETA) are the foundational pillars and core values of Henån School. The safety team and student health, together with the teachers, are very engaged in the school's value-based work.
At Henån School, we work for an open climate with good cohesion, as it is important that we care for each other. We focus on health factors and try to do more of what makes students feel good and succeed in school. The entire school actively works with PALS, a value-based initiative, in collaboration with the VG region.
Your tasks
We are now looking for two after-school teachers for the F-6 unit. We currently have four departments for after-school care for our approximately 150 enrolled students. Two departments for students in grades F-1 and two departments for students in grades 2-6. Two staff members work in each department, but collaboration occurs across boundaries, and departments may merge in the morning and evening. The after-school care is open in the morning from 06:00-08:30 and from 13:30-18:00. The staff is organized into a team that works on morning care every day and a team that runs afternoon care. We carry out planned activities based on our pedagogical planning every day, but we also offer students recreation and free play.
During the school day, all staff working in after-school care have a clear task. Some have teaching responsibilities in subjects they are qualified for, are playground teachers, while others are resources in classes or for individual students. The after-school team is led by a team leader and has joint planning every week. All staff in after-school care also have their own planning. Team time should be used to develop the after-school care's teaching according to the goals in the curriculum and to develop the pedagogical planning.
You will work as a teacher in after-school care in one of our after-school departments and be part of the after-school team's working group. Together with your colleagues, you will develop the operations and are expected to offer meaningful after-school activities based on the students' needs, interests, and experiences. Your assignment includes planning, implementing, and evaluating the operations based on the curriculum and other governing documents. During a workday, you will also support as a resource in a class, conduct teaching in our after-school care, or in a subject based on your qualifications, or have the task of planning and implementing recess activities.
About you
We are looking for someone who is a certified teacher for after-school care. You should be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness in your professional role. You have a positive view of students and are constructive, flexible, and eager to develop. You have high expectations for both yourself and the students, and you possess a salutogenic approach where you focus on strengths and opportunities.
In your pedagogical leadership, you are structured and a clear leader. You have the ability to create good relationships and can communicate well with students, guardians, and other staff. As a person, you can inspire and engage students and meet them based on their individual circumstances. Your focus will be to find working methods and approaches that ensure students succeed in developing their abilities and meeting knowledge requirements. You have the ability to create a good working environment characterized by safety, study peace, and enjoyable learning. We see that you have a positive attitude, are flexible, and enjoy collaborating. We place great importance on personal suitability.
