The office's mission is to support the municipal executive board in leading, coordinating, and monitoring the activities, economy, and other strategic planning of the City of Gothenburg.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Finance and Consolidated Accounting Department is one of three departments within the area of Planning, Monitoring, Analysis, and Economics and currently consists of 13 employees. The department is responsible for the city's finance and accounting processes, ensuring the city's solvency and securing access to capital. Additionally, the department is responsible for the foundation activities of the city's affiliated foundations.

As our colleague is retiring, we are looking for an economist to join our consolidated accounting team.

The consolidated accounting team is responsible for producing consolidated accounts for the municipality and the municipal group in the city's monitoring reports. The team ensures that the accounting in the city is appropriate and provides advice and support on accounting issues.

The assignment includes leading and driving projects as well as development issues within the municipality's and group's accounting. Additionally, you will represent consolidated accounting in various process teams and networks. You will work within the accounting and economics area and will be partially specialized in the municipality's asset and investment accounting as well as personnel cost accounting. Together with the team, you will actively work on closing and annual reporting as well as the development, interpretation, and implementation of accounting principles and recommendations.

The tasks vary over time, and you will work broadly and be part of a close-knit team with high competence. The team and department work closely with the city's administrations and companies, which provides good opportunities for a holistic view of Gothenburg City, its organization, and operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

For this assignment, you are required to have an academic degree with a focus on accounting and economics. You have several years of experience in qualified accounting, preferably from municipal operations, and experience in asset and investment accounting.

The work involves challenging tasks with high complexity and contexts where overview and holistic perspective are important. In your work, you are meticulous, responsible, and self-driven. You have a strong drive to improve and develop routines, processes, and working methods, and you are used to working with deadlines and can handle high workloads during certain periods. You are positive, curious, unpretentious, quality-conscious, and have a good ability to work in a structured manner. You collaborate well with others and are relationship-building.

Additionally, you are an experienced system user with knowledge of business and financial systems, have good skills in Excel, and express yourself well in both speech and writing.
