The municipality's adapted primary school is located by the shores of Lake Mälaren at Tosteröskolan and Thomaskolan on the Campus in Strängnäs. The teaching follows the curriculum of the adapted primary school, and we utilize modern technology. A total of about sixty people (educators, student assistants, special educators, counselors, and administrative staff) work in the organization. In the adapted primary school, we all work to develop each student based on their individual circumstances.

We are now looking for a highly engaged teacher for Tosteröskolan's adapted primary school for grades 6-9!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for you who are an educated and certified teacher with qualifications for younger ages. You have good knowledge of and experience with children with intellectual disabilities, ADHD, and autism. You need to be able to handle challenging and outwardly aggressive students professionally and have a good pedagogical understanding. You use clear pedagogical methods, low-arousal responses, and work in a structured manner. You can interpret social interactions among students and be a trustworthy adult role model. Your approach is that children do right if they can.

You plan, implement, and develop the educational work both individually and together with your colleagues. You work alongside experienced student assistants in the classroom and with professional teaching colleagues in the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has/is:

  • a certified teacher with qualifications for younger ages or a preschool teacher.
  • experience working with children with intellectual disabilities.
  • experience or education in the area of neuropsychiatric disabilities and outwardly aggressive behavior.

It is also advantageous if you have/are:

  • previous experience working/teaching in an adapted primary school.
  • a special educator with a focus on intellectual disabilities.
  • knowledge of TAKK.

You have the ability to meet each student on their terms and adapt your teaching to the needs of the group and individuals. You are skilled at finding solutions to compensate for students' difficulties in the learning environment. To motivate, inspire, and challenge students, you use your ability to show humility, warmth, and at the same time set boundaries.

It is also important that you have a good ability to collaborate, are attentive, and see the benefits of being part of a team. You have a professional attitude towards students, colleagues, and guardians. You reflect on ethical and value-based issues.

For work with children and youth, a police background check must be presented before employment.
