Data Protection Officer for Norrköping Municipality
Are you passionate about legal issues and want to ensure that personal data is handled correctly within an entire municipal group? Then you could be our next Data Protection Officer!
Who are we?
The Office of the Municipal Director is tasked with supporting all municipal operations to promote efficiency, quality, and innovation. The office is responsible for finance, governance, HR, as well as safety and security within the municipality. It has a central function and works closely with the political leadership. Many functions contribute to ensuring the democratic process.
The Office of the Municipal Director has 160 employees, and with us, you will have the chance to work closely with the municipality's highest management and our six operational offices. You will have highly competent colleagues and the opportunity to contribute to the development and quality of Norrköping Municipality.
The Department of Democracy and Support is responsible for preparing matters for the municipal executive board and the municipal council, providing legal support to the entire organization, investigative matters, and document management.
Your Responsibilities
As a Data Protection Officer, you will have a supportive and supervisory role, which includes ensuring that personal data is processed correctly and legally, as well as informing and advising on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and related legislation. Furthermore, you will also serve as a contact point for the supervisory authority and for registered individuals.
Your tasks as a Data Protection Officer include:
- Being a knowledge support for Norrköping Municipality's committees, offices, and municipal companies regarding GDPR and related legislation.
- Monitoring internal compliance with GDPR and, in some cases, reporting the organization's deficiencies and development needs.
- Identifying training needs and planning and conducting training regarding GDPR and related legislation.
- Assisting in conducting impact assessments and providing advice on personal data incidents.
In your role, you will work together with the other Data Protection Officers in the municipal group towards Norrköping Municipality's committees, offices, and municipal companies. Together, you will ensure that the entire municipal group operates in a uniform and professional manner regarding data protection and privacy issues.
The Legal and Investigation Unit is centrally organized under the municipal executive board. The unit provides legal services and investigative support to the municipality's elected officials and employees. It is responsible for cross-municipal legal issues and ensures that professional expert support is available in legal and data protection matters. The unit conducts qualified investigations, often in cross-municipal issues, and leads larger and smaller projects.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone with a law degree, business law degree, or another equivalent higher education that the employer deems comparable. You should have good knowledge of GDPR and related legislation. It is advantageous if you have worked as a Data Protection Officer or have otherwise been active in the field. Experience in other forms of legal work is also advantageous, and we prefer candidates who have previously worked in the public sector.
The work requires excellent skills in both spoken and written communication. You will assist in the development of governing documents but also need to communicate clearly and effectively to both large and small groups. To succeed in the role, you need to take responsibility for your tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work effectively and driving your processes forward. You will also collaborate with many other competencies and colleagues, so you need to be attentive and have good teamwork skills.
Welcome with your application!
