Job Description
The role of the data protection officer involves fulfilling the tasks required of a data protection officer according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other regulations. You have an independent auditing role and ensure that Region Östergötland complies with applicable data protection regulations.
You provide advice and support on data protection issues and work with training and information for staff within Region Östergötland's various operations. You build and participate in various networks and groups where data protection issues are handled. You act as our contact person with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) and other relevant stakeholders. You collaborate closely with the agency's other specialists in law, information security, cybersecurity, and data protection.
You follow up and check that the rules in GDPR and other legislation are complied with within Region Östergötland. This is done through annual audits and reports in accordance with the established annual plan.
You participate in development work and contribute to ensuring that data protection processes are updated and complied with, and that the application of regulations is uniform throughout the region.
Through your participation in impact assessments, you contribute to finding solutions that ensure we comply with legal requirements while developing operations and our working methods.
Work Group
The legal unit provides operational and strategic support in law, political case management, information management, and record-keeping to political leadership, the regional director, functions for strategic governance and management, and Region Östergötland's other operations. In your work, you will have close cooperation with the information security officer, data protection officer, and cybersecurity officer.
About You
You have a law degree or equivalent and experience working with data protection issues, preferably within healthcare.
It is an advantage if you have previously worked as a data protection officer in a larger organization, have experience working in a politically governed organization, and have worked with supervision of public operations.
As a person, you focus on solutions, initiate activities, and achieve results. You have the ability to view issues from an operational perspective and the courage to tackle complex questions. In the role, you meet people in various contexts, and therefore you need to be communicative, easy to collaborate with, and responsive to different situations and needs. You act in a way that helps build trust internally and for Region Östergötland.
You must be a Swedish citizen as some tasks within the employment are classified. A security review will be conducted in connection with employment, which includes a background check and security interview.
