We are looking for an engaged special teacher in English and Swedish who is passionate about supporting students in their learning and development. With us, you will become a key player in the Study Center – a place where students receive the support they need to succeed, both in school and in life.

We believe in creating an environment where every student feels seen, understood, and encouraged. Perhaps you will help a student crack the reading code, build up the confidence of someone who has lost faith in their abilities, or guide a colleague in adapting teaching in the best way!

Your responsibilities

As a special teacher at Västervik High School, you will be part of a team that together finds solutions for students with various challenges and needs. You will be a central part of our work around students in our support service, the Study Center.

An important aspect of your work is to provide direct support to students, both individually and in small groups, where you help them find strategies to succeed in their studies.

You will map and analyze to identify students' strengths and difficulties and use this knowledge to create meaningful teaching interventions. You will support subject teachers by providing guidance and participating in the development work around extra adaptations and special support. You will be an important part of shaping our support service and ensure that we continuously develop to meet students' needs.

We are looking for someone who takes responsibility for their relationships with colleagues, students, and the work group. You feel a clear responsibility for the school's/employer's mission and understand that we can only succeed together.

Your qualifications

We are looking for someone with a teaching license in English and Swedish and preferably a special education degree or special pedagogical competence. Previous experience of teaching at the high school level is considered an asset.

You are an educator who is passionate about working with students in need of support and have a solution-focused approach. You have a good understanding of how children and adolescents absorb knowledge and insight into different conditions for learning. You easily build trusting relationships, both with students and colleagues.

You need to be secure in yourself, stable, and have good self-awareness. We believe you can easily adapt to changing circumstances and not only identify problems that arise but are also part of the solution by seeing opportunities in changes and thinking creatively about teaching and support interventions. You express a positive attitude and act in accordance with the larger perspective and the best interests of the entire operation in your actions and decisions.

You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively with a high degree of personal maturity.
