Job Advertisement: Technical Specialist in Maintenance

The Swedish Armed Forces are in an expansion phase and on a comprehensive growth journey. Recruiting unit: MS (Naval Staff) DSK (Operations Control Office) AST (Amphibious Support Troop) in Karlskrona.

About the Unit

The Operations Control Office's AST department designs and procures technical maintenance, both preventive and corrective, for the Navy's boats and vessels. With professional employees, we carry out and develop operations together with the rest of the Armed Forces (FM) and in close collaboration with the Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and industry. The department consists of about 15 employees operating in Karlskrona.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare preventive and corrective maintenance needs in dialogue with the units using boats and vessels and convert these needs into orders to suppliers.
  • As a natural part of the role, project management will occur, supporting the section's production leaders.
  • Check and quality assure completed maintenance after work has been performed by the supplier.
  • Participate in and provide technical system support during analysis work, studies, development, and procurement of new and modified material systems as well as in the preparation of documentation.
  • Engage in dialogue regarding orders/reviews with suppliers and units.
  • Represent customers within your technical area to other technical parties within the Armed Forces, the Defence Materiel Administration, and industry.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a technical focus or relevant competence acquired in another way.
  • Several years of experience in maintenance operations of vessels within the ship technology area.
  • You communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Driving license B.

As the role involves many contact points, you have good collaborative skills, are responsible, and listen to others while acting in a responsive and flexible manner. You take initiative, start activities, and achieve results. Weighing complex information and showing judgment comes naturally to you. Furthermore, you are structured and plan and organize your work effectively within given time frames. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree from the maritime engineering program.
  • Other system work and requirements management as well as operation and maintenance of systems, for example, in the form of previous service in a technical position.
  • Experience working with classification societies and their regulations.
  • Experience and work with fire extinguishing and fire alarm systems are not required but will be considered very valuable in the selection process.

Other Information

Employment type: Permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period.
Employment rate: Full-time.
Work location: Karlskrona.
Start date: As soon as possible by agreement.
The position includes business trips, mainly within Sweden.
