A relative consultant works to support and help relatives of individuals suffering from long-term illness, cognitive disabilities, or mental health issues. The role involves significant responsibility in providing both emotional and practical support to relatives, as well as guiding them about various resources and rights.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work preventively and be attentive to support regarding information and support groups in various forms.
- Offer individual and group-based support to relatives.
- Provide information about social services, healthcare, and other community resources that may be relevant for relatives.
- Support relatives in their own situation, e.g., through conversations or counseling.
- Conduct lectures, training, and information meetings for relatives on how they can manage their situation.
- Act as a link between relatives and various agencies that can offer help.
- Work closely with other professionals within the social services, primary care, and civil society.
- Offer individual conversations.
- Provide support at home.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in working with relative support or within the healthcare sector is an advantage.
- Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with relatives in difficult situations.
Good knowledge of the resources and laws governing relative support and social services.
Personal qualities:
- Empathetic and attentive to the needs of relatives.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for one's tasks.
- The ability to take a leadership role with an empathetic approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Have a good demeanor.
- The ability to convey knowledge and have an approach that creates security.
- The position requires a B driver's license, and access to a personal vehicle is desirable.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
