Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
The Hässelby-Vällingby district administration is located in western Stockholm, close to scenic areas and good communications. We are about 1,700 proud and dedicated employees who provide high-quality service to the residents of the district every day. Our work environment is characterized by collaboration, courage, and participation. Our strength is that the diversity among residents is also present among our employees. Together, we make a difference!
Welcome to us
The Leisure Unit Hässelby and the Leisure Unit Vällingby’s mission is to offer children and young people safe and meaningful leisure activities at our playgrounds and youth centers.
The operations are open meeting places where leisure leaders, together with visitors, plan and implement leisure activities. The operations should offer a wide range of different activities. Operational plans and governing documents are available to support planning and operational development.
In 2024, the leisure activities in the district received an honorary award at the quality gala in Stockholm city. We actively and consciously work to continuously improve. We are members of the KEKS network and we use The Logbook for operational documentation and follow-up, which allows us to compare ourselves nationally and internationally with other open meeting places.
The primary target group at the youth centers currently is high school students aged 13-17 years, while elementary school children are the primary target group for the playgrounds. Work occurs in both arenas, playground and youth center when you are employed with us. Outreach/mobile digital and guiding leisure leader work is also included.
We offer;
- Work where the young people's own ideas, inherent competencies, interests, and creativity are at the center.
- Positive and meaningful leisure arenas that are important as protective factors for children and youth.
- Work with holiday activities and events.
- Activities for children and youth in the area of violence prevention MVP leisure.
- Within the Leisure Unit Vällingby, targeted activities are offered to children and youth with disabilities, and we have an LGBTQIA+ meeting place.
- All operations work based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the best interests of the child.
- Much of the activity takes place outdoors and in all weather.
- The operations are active workplaces with a strong focus on movement.
- Here we encourage innovative thinking and participation.
Mission and tasks:
The mission involves, from a promoting perspective, utilizing the visitors' resources and offering opportunities for our children and youth to realize their ideas and skills. We want to strengthen children and youth in their development through the informal learning that takes place in the operations. Therefore, you who are applying for a job with us need to have your own thoughts on how you can contribute to this in practice.
It is part of the mission to develop our work with participation and enable young people to be more involved in influencing the operations and content than today.
Another part of the mission is to spread information about the open leisure activities, attract new children to participate in the content of the operations, and work outreach.
All leisure activities should be experienced as safe and fun for ALL visitors, and therefore we work against all forms of discrimination and violations, which means that you, together with colleagues and management, need to be clear and low-key and be able to uphold rules, manage conflicts, contact guardians, and other partners such as social services, field assistants, and police to resolve situations that may arise. Everyone who works has a reporting obligation and must be well aware of the implications of this.
