The role of school coordinator
You play an important role as a school coordinator. Placed children and youth are a vulnerable group and often have poorer school results compared to other children. At the same time, we know that school is the most important protective factor for children and youth to succeed later in life.
As a school coordinator, you work closely with the child/youth, their guardians, and the responsible social worker. As a school coordinator, you work with authority in the areas concerning schooling and its conditions. You support the social worker in choosing placement options and focus on schooling. As a school coordinator, you gain an overview and knowledge of schools and functioning schooling in connection with the city's own as well as contracted placement options. Furthermore, the school coordinator is involved in the development of care plans and is proactive in establishing and following up on implementation plans, writing about schooling in considerations and reassessments. The school coordinator focuses on school attendance and school results. The school coordinator must maintain contact with the child/youth's school before, during, and after placement and actively follow up on schooling.
Among the school coordinator's tasks are:
- Responsibility for and operational support to social workers regarding schooling and conditions for schooling.
- Ensures that the planning agreed upon by the parties regarding the child's or youth's schooling is implemented.
- Documentation regarding school issues directly in the child's or youth's case.
- Preparations for school transfers according to the city's routines (SAMS), which includes ensuring that there is documentation regarding the child's schooling and that the new school receives the information available.
- The school coordinator gathers the child/youth's and guardians' experiences of what has worked or not worked regarding schooling and ensures that this information is communicated to those involved.
- Continuously follows the child's schooling.
- In connection with moving back home, the school coordinator works to ensure that schooling is planned, gets underway, and that the child/youth and their guardians receive the support needed to maintain functioning schooling. If necessary, initiate interventions in open care to stabilize schooling.
You will belong to the area of authority for children and youth at the district administration. As a school coordinator, you will be offered an introduction to the role in addition to local introduction and participate in exchanges of experiences/network meetings with other school coordinators in the city with support from the social administration and together with the education administration.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in social work.
- At least two years of experience working with authority in the field of children and youth.
- Training in and experience working with the support of BBIC.
- Very good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish.
It is advantageous if you:
- Have worked with placements of the target group according to SoL and LVU within social services.
- Experience working with support for so-called treatment families and/or experience working in treatment institutions or support housing for youth.
- Have experience working as a school coordinator.
In this recruitment, we particularly focus on the following abilities and skills:
You enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and management but also have a good ability to work independently, create structure, and prioritize in your work. As a person, you are stable, driven, and have an easy time collaborating and building good relationships. You are communicative, comfortable working with your colleagues to drive the work forward, and at the same time be part of a collaboration group with other school coordinators in the city.
