Borås is a cultural city in constant development. The Cultural Administration works with and is responsible for a large part of the cultural offerings. We are responsible for the Libraries in Borås, Borås Art Museum, the Cultural School, the Textile Museum, Borås Museum, Borås City Theatre, and Public meetings with Bio Röda Kvarn. Here, over 220 people work to enrich the lives of Borås residents.

Borås Cultural School = The Cultural School of the Future. The Cultural School, which has been in operation for 80 years, is located in new and fresh premises in Simonsland, centrally located in the city of Borås, and offers courses in music, dance, theater, art, film, textiles, and circus. Activities are also conducted at our service points Hässlehuset in Hässleholmen and Musikens hus in Fristad.

The Cultural School is for the municipality's youth and plays a particularly important role in the leisure time of children and young people.

The Cultural School has about 2,500 subject course students, conducts cultural school activities at eight elementary school branches in the municipality, offers open activities at the municipality's meeting places, and has commissioned activities in preschool, elementary school, special school, and high school. The Cultural School has a large outreach activity with over 200 performances per year. About 54 teachers and administrative staff work with us to provide young people with meaningful leisure time.

Substitute flute teacher for Borås Cultural School

Job Responsibilities

You now have the opportunity to apply for an exciting substitute position as a flute teacher with us at Borås Cultural School! You will teach students in flute at various levels from beginners to high school students, both in groups and individually.

The job responsibilities may also include teaching other instruments within the woodwind family at some of the Cultural School's branch schools as well as at our "Kulår", which is a one-year trial course offered to all students in grade 1 in the municipality.

You are responsible for organizing and leading the teaching within your areas and, together with colleagues, planning and carrying out concerts and projects.

You will be part of a subject team that has high ambitions and a desire to conduct meaningful activities for the municipality's children and youth.

Other Information

The position is a part-time substitute for 70-80% during the 2025/2026 school year.

Teaching tests may be arranged. Selection may occur continuously.

Qualifications

We welcome you who are passionate about the development of children and youth and who want to contribute to the Cultural School remaining an important place for the municipality's residents. We are looking for you who are an engaging and inspiring teacher in flute. If you can also play oboe and/or bassoon, it is a merit. You should be comfortable with both ear training and reading music in the teaching situation. You have a music teacher education or another relevant higher education suitable for the position and experience in teaching.

Our expectations of you as a person are that you have good collaboration skills, work in a structured manner, and have high personal maturity. You have experience planning and conducting workshops and are used to initiating and driving projects.

Cultural awareness and independence are other qualities that we value highly. It is also important for us that you have the ability to create good relationships with colleagues and our students/guardians and have good social skills.

Experience is required and a B driver's license is a requirement.
