Unit Manager at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency
We are looking for a Unit Manager who, together with the unit's employees, wants to develop work with effective and legally secure grant and fee processes at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. In recent years, the agency has received an increasing number of assignments related to grant giving and fee management, mostly linked to the EU's work for the green transition. The unit's mission is to develop and manage the agency's control strategy to prevent and detect fraud, ensure cost-effective operations, and maintain reasonable processing times. Furthermore, the unit shall carry out in-depth financial controls based on decided control measures. The unit should also have the capacity to handle certain grants when necessary. The Financing Unit is part of the Administration Department with employees located both in Östersund and Stockholm.
Your Responsibilities:
As a unit manager, you will lead, develop, and follow up on the unit's work on behalf of the head of the administration department. You will be part of the department's management team, where you contribute to the overall picture and a good collaborative climate. As a member of the management team, you are expected to take an active role in our collective work to implement the department's entire mission. You are responsible for the unit's processes, results, staffing, and finances, and you have personnel and work environment responsibilities. You also ensure that the unit has the necessary competence to fulfill its mission and has the ability to create clarity and direction in the work. You harness employees' engagement and ensure they have the right conditions to perform their work. You contribute to a good work climate, participation, and good collaboration both internally and externally. You ensure the quality of the unit's deliveries and represent the agency in external contexts.
Your Competence:
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant higher education, such as economics.
- Current, several years of experience as a manager.
- Experience in leading or implementing grant and/or fee management, preferably from public sector operations.
It is advantageous to have:
- Experience in handling external audits.
- Experience in managing EU-funded operations.
- Experience in digitizing and automating financial flows.
We place great importance on your personal qualities and leadership. The unit has many contact points with the various departments and units of the agency, so the role requires you to be attentive, promote a trust-building atmosphere, and contribute to good collaboration.
At the same time, you are a leader who is results- and goal-oriented and wants to develop the operations. You can see the big picture and remain flexible as conditions change.
About the Employment
The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. The position is located in Stockholm or Östersund. Start date as soon as possible by agreement. We apply individual salary setting.
Application
When you apply, you will need to answer a number of selection questions related to the requirements profile in the advertisement. Your answers will be used as part of the selection process and may determine whether you proceed in the recruitment process. Therefore, it is important that you respond as thoroughly and clearly as possible. We do not use personal letters in the selection process, as we want to focus on your experience and competence, which contributes to a more efficient and fair recruitment process. In your application, please attach only your CV.
We warmly welcome your application by April 15, 2025.
