HR Generalist at the Department of Electrical Engineering

You will be employed at Uppsala University (https://www.uu.se/institution/elektroteknik/), which conducts successful research and education in renewable energy sources and electric vehicles, industrial IoT, 6G communication, and wireless sensor networks, as well as research and education in Life Science, health technology, smart electronic sensors, and medical systems. The Department of Electrical Engineering is an international environment with about 160 employees contributing to important technical energy and health solutions at the Ångström Laboratory.

As an HR Generalist, you will be part of the department's operational support. We are a cheerful, professional, and creative team consisting of economists, HR, and educational administration. Our mission is to provide good service and support to the core operations, which consist of teachers, researchers, doctoral students, and students.

Job Responsibilities

You will lead the HR work at the department together with the head and the management team. An important part of the work as an HR Generalist is to continuously provide consultative and qualified support to both the department management and employees on issues related to the entire HR area and actively work with workplace environment and equal opportunity issues.

You will handle, investigate, and drive cases within the HR area. You will, among other things, follow up on employment, recruitment, and rehabilitation, as well as ensure compliance with labor laws and agreements. It is therefore important that you stay updated on laws, regulations, ordinances, and collective agreements within the HR area, especially within the public sector. In addition, the position also includes general administrative tasks that occur within the department, which vary over time.

You need to feel confident in driving the work independently as you are the sole HR function at the department. However, you are never alone as you work together with the department and your colleagues in the support operations to ensure quality and create clear routines for the operations. There are also local HR networks for support in various issues.

In parallel with this advertisement, we are also recruiting for a temporary position for 1 year, at 50% capacity. This means that you and another HR Generalist at 50% will shape the department's operational HR support.

Qualifications

  • Degree focused on personnel and working life or competence and experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience working with HR issues.
  • Experience working with administrative support, particularly within recruitment and payroll/HR systems.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
  • We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. The work as an HR Generalist involves many social contacts, which is why it is important to have a good sense of service and the ability to communicate in a responsive manner. Since the work involves handling personnel matters, a high level of integrity is important. We value personal qualities such as being structured, meticulous, and unpretentious in HR tasks. We in the support operations who will work with you see ourselves as a team and highly value your ability to collaborate.

Meritorious

  • Experience with personnel administration within public sector operations, especially at a university or college.
  • Familiarity with the university's administrative systems, such as Varbi, Primula, and Adato.

About the Employment

The position is temporary, 12 months. The scope is 100%. Start date by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
